Challenge
Wildlife action is one of the most-watched genres on Facebook Reels, but real footage is expensive, inconsistent and often graphic. The brief I set myself: build a US-facing wildlife page from zero using clearly-labelled simulated (CGI) encounters, keep it policy-safe, and get the Reels algorithm - not the follower count - to drive distribution.
Approach
- Concept: terrarium-style 'battles' and encounters (snake vs. mongoose, cobra vs. ferret) that promise tension in the first frame but never show gore.
- Transparency: 'Safe CGI · Simulated · Realistic' in the cover, bio and captions so viewers and Meta know exactly what they are watching.
- 3-second engineering: the animal is already in motion at frame one, camera locked, no intro card; the hook caption lands before the first second ends.
- Daily publishing at a fixed US-evening time; every reel 7-15 seconds so completion rate stays above 100%.
- Weekly read of the 3-second-view ratio (414K of 936K) to decide which encounters to repeat.
Results
- 936,828 views and 414,155 3-second views in 28 days, with 71 days 17 hours of total watch time.
- Top reels in the same month: 697K, 105K, 96K, 86K, 84K, 48K and 25K views.
- 98.5% of views came from non-followers - Facebook is distributing the page on its own.
- 11K followers and a verified page within three months of launch.
